THE REGION
ANOTHER WORLD
Where Indonesia meets the Pacific Ocean lies one of the most extraordinary regions for a surf trip and a lot more. Stretching through West Papua, including North Maluku, and Raja Ampat, it is a maze of jungle-covered islands, hidden lagoons, towering limestone, and some of the richest marine biodiversity on Earth. Beyond the surf, diving here is world-class, with coral reefs and marine life that barely feel real. Life here feels from another world, rooted in remote coastal villages and indigenous communities whose connection to these islands goes back generations. Add ridiculously beautiful scenery, epic hikes, a level of remoteness that resets your sense of scale, and you get a very different kind of trip.
THE SURF
NOT MUCH GETS OUT
Little is known about the surf in this part of Indonesia, and that is exactly how it should stay. Breaks are spread across remote corners of West Papua, North Maluku, and Raja Ampat, with very little public information and even fewer people who truly understand the region, anchorages, its waves, and how conditions move through it. The seasons are complex, but let’s just say it is a very good place to escape Northern Hemi winters. Stand-up barrels can happen, but not nearly as often as empty lineups and unnamed waves. This is proper exploration territory. Only a handful of people know these islands well, and we’ll make sure one of them is on your charter.
