THE REGION
THE WILD EAST
East of Bali, Indonesia begins to feel wider, wilder, drier and far less common. This is a region of big islands, empty coastlines and long stretches of ocean where real adventure still exists. Sumba and Rote sit at the heart of it for us, not only for the incredible surf, but also for the beautiful landscapes, strong local culture and proper sense of exploration. On some charters, we can include Komodo, adding diving in one of the most spectacular marine environments in the country and a serious dose of wild nature. Boat trips can also thread through places like Savu, where the feeling of remoteness only deepens. A broad and rewarding corner of Indonesia where every island brings its own uniqueness.
THE SURF
ROOM TO ROAM
Stretching east of Bali, from Desert Point to Rote through islands like Sumbawa and Sumba, Eastern Indonesia is a vast region of large islands with long coastlines full of nooks and crannies. Exposed to SW swells and brushed by SE trade winds, it delivers consistent offshore conditions in season for some mind-blowing surf breaks, while others come alive in the off-season and shoulder months. You will find everything from long walls on points to playful and slabby reefs, plus heavier setups. Resorts are strategically positioned close to, or in front of, amazing waves, while surf charters provide the range. Conditions vary between areas & islands, so hit us up if you want to know when and where to go.
